Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Performance Improvement Manager of Analytics collaborates with the PI Director of Analytics, AVP of Labor Analytics & Reporting, and PI personnel to run and develop reports and tools that support the analytics strategies for the PI organization.

The Manager of Analytics will be responsible for assisting with the creation of new analytical tools, running ad-hoc reports and interfacing with Corporate and Division based PI resources. This position will work closely with various technical, reporting, and clinical resources to identify and support key strategies by leveraging data from various financial and operational systems.

The PI Manager of Analytics runs routine static reports and drill downs from web-based reporting tools to support the company’s PI strategies. This position is responsible for testing and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the analytics work product of the Performance Improvement department. The Manager is responsible for the preparation and presentation of pertinent analyses to various members of the Performance Improvement organization. This individual must possess excellent technical and analytical skills, experience compiling and distributing reports, knowledge of HCA’s data sources, proven motivational capabilities, and a demonstrated track record of delivering results and attaining goals.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Runs reports, develops new reports and enhances existing reports to support the company's management strategies

  • Conducts ad-hoc analyses to analyze new trends and explore new strategic opportunities

  • Collaborates with IT resources on the distribution of reports and data to Performance Improvement, Divisions and facilities.

  • Refines existing Performance Improvement tools based on direction from the Performance Improvement organization

  • Works with PI Education to develop report training for end users.

  • Documents business requirements of new reporting tools that will be supported by IT

  • Performs QA checks on data produced by the Performance Improvement Analytics department.

  • Communicates timely and effectively in a matrix environment.

  • Escalates issues to the Senior Director and AVP as necessary

  • Builds and maintains strong, effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders across HCA.

  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in analytics field (reporting and/or development).

  • Strong analytical and data modeling skills

  • SQL experience required (1-2 years)

  • Development experience in dashboard tools (Power BI or QlikView / QlikSense) required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel), Essbase (cube reporting) and Business Objects (Ad-hoc reporting)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience working with complex data sets in data warehouse environments required.

  • Experience in data movement tools (Alteryx, Informatica, SSIS) strongly preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related areas – Required
