Vanderbilt University Research Assistant, Part-Time in Nashville, Tennessee
Dr. Jason Chow is hiring an in-person research staff member to support ongoing projects funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, National Science Foundation, and the Office of Special Education Programs.
We are looking for motivated individuals with research experience, including but not limited to school- and community-based research, data collection and entry, lab-based research, and project coordination. This position is intended to be between 15-20 hours per week, and will include attending scheduled trainings and grant meetings, learning and using observational coding tools and child direct assessments, collecting, entering, and managing data, screening and coding for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, among other grant related tasks. Depending on experience and interest, this position may also involve supervising research assistants, project management, supporting manuscript preparation, and other dissemination activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties of this role will include:
Work approximately 15-20 hours per week.
Organize and attend scheduled trainings and grant meetings
Assess and monitor implementation and procedural fidelity of manualized procedures
Assume a leadership role in the team’s project management system
Demonstrate independence and initiative in completing grant related responsibilities
Complete all tasks accurately and on time
Display professional conduct
Respond promptly to communications from participants and the grant management team
Maintain all materials and data in specified organizational format
Communicate effectively with research partners, community members, and the research team
Organize, code, and summarize observational and research synthesis data
Maintain databases
Organize, clean, score, enter, and check data
Supervisory Relationships
This position may involve some supervision of research assistants, depending on experience and interest.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field is required
Experience in schools (research or teaching experience) is preferred
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail
Sufficient computer skills and comfort with Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to multitask and learn new information
Professional attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality
Interpersonal skills
