Job Summary:

The Data Platform Services team is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with an inquisitive and analytical mindset to join our team. In your role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing our cloud-based data infrastructure, as well as designing and implementing efficient data extraction and ingestion processes. You will also be responsible for working with stakeholders to identify data needs, investigating opportunities to improve platform scalability, building generic solutions for patterned problems, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Independently and full proficient to:

  • Design and develop performant data pipelines that support a variety of source system types (flat files, APIs, databases, etc.)

  • Troubleshoot complex issues with production pipelines and work with internal stakeholders to deploy fixes

  • Develop tools and services used by other teams to create, test, and deliver data-related assets

  • Participate in code review sessions for merge requests and assist in mentoring developers in best development practices

  • Design and develop cloud infrastructure-as-code to support the data platform

  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees as needed

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 4+ years C# and/or Python in an OOP paradigm experience

  • 2+ years with SQL experience

  • Experience with REST data services, APIs, and microservices

  • 2+ years with containerization with Docker or Podman

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years with CI/CD automation in GitLab, GitHub, or Azure DevOps

  • Experience creating cloud solutions with Azure, AWS, or GCP

  • Experience with Git

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Databricks or Apache Spark

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM

  • GitHub profile link to some personal code examples

Stays abreast of new and emerging technology and its impact on core business systems.

  • BUSINESS ARCHITECTURE (ADVANCED): Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of the Business Architecture, how it is structured, how various components and parts interact, as well as what protocols and interfaces are used for communications and cooperation. Responsible for increasing functional effectiveness by mapping and modeling the business to the organization's business vision and strategic goals. Takes a lead role in the strategic planning and design of core business processes. Has in-depth knowledge of the computing architecture of the company. Stays abreast of new and emerging technology and its impact on the Business Architecture.

  • CLOUD ARCHITECTURE (ADVANCED): Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of leveraging cloud-based architecture to support the life cycle of a data lake. Demonstrates a high-level understanding of when and how to scale cloud components to provide the required level of performance and support of a data lake.

  • DATA LAKES (ADVANCED): Demonstrates expertise in resolving challenging problems involving the application of the skill. Can educate other people in efficient use of the skill. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of all components, including advanced features and functions such as custom components. Continues to remain current with new features, concepts, and tools and how to apply them. May have successfully completed training resulting in basic certification and/or curriculum fulfillment.

  • DATA MARTS (ADVANCED): Displays a mastery of the effective application, operation, and practice in intricate applications. Extensive experience in all core features and functions of data marts. Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of advanced concepts, consistently applying them in the delivery of sophisticated applications. May have completed advanced training in techniques, features, and tools, further enhancing expertise in the field. Plays a lead role in defining and implementing data mart strategies, leveraging advanced methodologies to meet complex business requirements. Leads the cross-functional teams in adopting cutting-edge data mart solutions, driving innovation, and ensuring their seamless integration into the data ecosystem. Mentors and collaborates with team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and excellence in data mart practices.

  • DATA WAREHOUSING (ADVANCED): Designed a system where data warehousing played a central role. Possesses extensive knowledge of warehouse models. Demonstrates a deep understanding of available options in various data warehouse components. Applies theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in different data warehouse structures effectively. Assess performance outcomes based on available options and environments and can translate regional data requirements into specific data warehouse applications. Leads data warehousing strategies within the organization, fostering innovation and aligning data practices with long-term objectives. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure data strategies support organizational goals. Shares insights and mentors team members, promoting continuous learning and excellence in data warehousing practices.
