Job Position Description

POSITION TITLE: TeacherCONTRACT TERM: School Year

SUPERVISOR: Principal CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTY:

To help each pupil develop competence in subject area skills and an understanding of subject material. To provide structured classroom management, planned instruction and thorough assessments which reflect each students learning. To work with parents, other staff members and students improve the subject area knowledge and skills of the student. To improve teaching as assigned by the principal, mentors and staff training personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. B.A. or B.S. degree required with a degree in education at the elementary level. M.A. degree preferred.

2. Meet the Highly Qualified Classification as defined by ESSA.

3. Must have State K-12 Teacher Certification.

4. Must have Structured English Immersion Endorsement.

5. Must have Navajo bilingual Endorsement.

6. Five or more years experience working in a classroom setting.

7. Knowledge and experience working with students with special needs, individually or in small groups.

8. Knowledge and experience working with State Common Core Standards and Curriculum development required.

9. Knowledge and experience developing instructional plans using student data disaggregation and analysis.

10. Knowledge and experience working with other colleagues during Professional Learning Communities time and space allotted weekly.

11. Knowledge and experience of the principles, practices, techniques and methods of education.

12. Knowledge and experience of the principles, practices, and techniques of lesson plan development.

13. Knowledge and experience of special education program eligibility and reporting requirements.

14. Knowledge and experience of the principles, practices, techniques, and methods of integration of Dine cultural programs.

15. Knowledge and experience of Individual with Disabilities Education regulations and recent amendments.

16. Knowledge and experience of the principles and practices for lesson plan development specific to special needs.

17. Knowledge and experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and counselors.

18. Knowledge and experience in working with students for successful completion of assignments and activities.

19. Knowledge and experience in developing and implement IEPs.

20. Knowledge and experience in identifying and working with behaviors resulting from variety of emotional, physical and/or psychological disorders.

21. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

22. Knowledge and experience providing differentiated instruction, particularly with Navajo students.

23. Willing to provide after school and possibly weekend tutoring for student academic progress.

24. Specialized training in working with at-risk students. Ability to work with Navajo students in a bilingual and bicultural setting.

25. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and employees.

26. Computer, Promethean Board, Internet, Microsoft Office

27. Child and Adult CPR and First Aid Certification.

28. Must maintain a valid State background check and possess an updated Navajo Nation background check for past 5 years while employed with NCSI.

29. Fluency in Navajo is hig ly recommended.
