Department of the Navy/Assistant for Administration PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in Naval Support Activity, Pennsylvania

Summary You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the NAVY ACQUISITION CAREER CENTER of NACC FIELD OFC. Responsibilities You will apply agency regulations regarding the type of personal security check required and requests an investigation from the appropriate organization. You will evaluate the authenticity, veracity and pertinence of the data to the case at hand and requests additional investigations or develops other information if needed. You will provide authoritative information and assistance to management advising on personnel security policies and related matters on the impact of personnel security requirements. You will decide whether security clearances should be granted, suspended, revoked, or denied. You will advise on procedures for adverse security determinations and employee rights. You will present and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences. Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with applying personnel security principles and methods to process initial investigations, clearances, periodic re-investigations, and clearance. Experience with upgrades/downgrades, suspension, revocations, terminations, reinstatements and to completing adjudication, and appeals processes. Experience processing security clearance requests and ensures applicant's actions are consistent with regulatory requirements. Experience analyzing and reporting clearance and appeal findings to senior security officials and making appropriate notifications. Experience with meeting the needs of both internal and external customers delivering and continuously improving high-quality products and services. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: A) Completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR B) Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree; OR C) Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position filled; OR D) Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
