Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Sales Trainee for the Nedrow, NY area.

What you’ll get to do

Are you looking for a long-term position with a stable company? As a Sales Trainee, you’ll complete a defined training program tailored to prepare the successful candidate for future roles in material sales within Nedrow, NY. In addition to sales, the program will expose the candidate to a broad range of functions within the business including operations and numerous other support departments. Some of the things the successful candidate will focus on in the program are as follows:

  • Strong focus on the sales side of the business including the sales processes, orders, logistics, billing, etc.

  • Involvement in the operational side of the business including exposure to mining, processing, quality control, and shipping.

  • A solid understanding of the support departments including the functions that they perform and how they support the business. These include CCM, finance, and legal.

  • Complete various projects as assigned during the training program. Projects may be operational, sales or business development related. These projects are a great way for the successful candidate to really add value to the organization and increase their own skills while completing the training program.

  • Participate in continuous improvement exercises, including work that is heavily analytical, to seek new and changing ways to improve the profitability of the business.

  • Drive and promote a culture of safety and promote a safe work environment

What we are looking for

  • A Bachelors or Advanced degree in sales/marketing, construction management, mining or another applicable program.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to maintain a safe workplace and to perform hands on duties as part of an overall development program

  • Computer literacy

  • Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing situations

  • Willingness to travel and / or relocate for future assignments
