We are seeking aQuality Assurance Specialistfor our Companion Animal brand-Neosho, Mo. This internal customer-facing role is responsible forinvestigating non-conforming finished product, raw material failures and assisting QandFS Manager with audit preparation: Customer audits/tours, Internal audits, and Certification Body audits. You will assist in ensuring the goals andobjectives for the production processes of Trouw Nutrition-Companion Animalexceed Superior Quality Performance!

About The Role: Driving Quality Excellence

Responsibilities:

  • Review records and determine if critical errors are affecting the quality or safety of finished products and raw materials
  • Responsible for writing, documenting, reviewing, maintaining, auditing, and monitoring employee adherence to SOP expectations
  • Ensure daily quality checks are coordinated, investigated and completed against magnet, scale, and production pre-op checks
  • Participate and approve Food/Feed Safety and Food/Feed Defense (FSSFD) monthly walkthroughs, while ensuring compliant actions are taken
  • Review status, make necessary dispositions of finished products and raw materials for Production
  • Assist with the creation, disposition of Non-Conformances, Corrective and Preventative Actions, as required
  • Complete and document mock recalls/tracking/tracing process, while following progress and data reporting of key quality performance indicators
  • Create an atmosphere that encourages Process Improvement
  • Oversee Nutreco training of employees: Quality and Food/Feed Safety, Food/Feed Defense, SQF, HACCP, Adulteration, and federal and state agencies requirements, SOPs, quality forms and quality work instructions
  • Approve, develop and guide Food/Feed Safety programs as needed: HACCP, Vulnerability and Defense, SQF, PCQI, and Quality Certifications
  • Verify, analyze all data entered into LIMS and testing programs
  • Manage samples for every raw material manufacturer lot and finished product produced
  • Ensure all raw materials and finished products are scanned by NIR

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Food science/Food safety, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Animal Science, or a science related field
  • 2+ years of Auditing experience
  • 5 years of industry related experience (Animal Science, Food /Beverage, Dietary Supplements or FDA regulated industry)
  • Less than 10% travel to our Highland, IL plant
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong math and deductive reasonings skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal stakeholder
  • Experienced user of MS suite Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and PowerBI

Preferred Skills:

  • Supervisory experience
  • M3 or Millmaster software familiarity
  • NIR Knowledge and/or Practical experience
