Position Summary:

Responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining reliability systems in the effort to achieve the highest levels of asset availability throughout the facility, in a way that drives behavioral based change to help create a continuous improvement culture. This will be accomplished through effective Predictive & Preventive Maintenance practices, skills / OJT training programs and sustainability methods (electrical, water, gas, and waste). Overall, the Reliability Engineer will assist in improving product quality, safety, equipment reliability and reducing operational costs. This role reports to the Maintenance Leader. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with operations and maintenance to develop individual equipment / system asset care strategy utilizing Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Methods, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and other reliability methods.  Strategies would identify required PM inspections (maintenance / operator), Predictive maintenance technologies and necessary upgrades to achieve reliability for that asset in relationship to required purpose and achievable throughput rate.

  • Drive behavioral based change to help create a proactive and reliability culture throughout the site.

  • Form and lead cohesive site reliability team with team members from all levels of the organization.  Identify support needed (consultant, engineering, maintenance, and operations) to drive improvement efforts.

  • Develop data collection plan to determine baseline and opportunities for improvement, which includes developing a site map of critical process flows & equipment in each department.

  • Conduct regular analysis of equipment data to understand drivers of repeat issues utilizing measures such as MTBF / MTBR.

  • Establish reliability KPI's including identifying systems for capturing the data required for KPI's and establish appropriate communication methods.

  • Support Operational Excellence initiatives including but not limited to Total Productive Maintenance programs i.e., Autonomous Maintenance.

  • Serves as a technical resource for engineers and craftspeople on reliability issues and train operators and craftspeople in all matters pertaining to reliability.

  • Work with the site HR and Training Department to develop maintenance training programs including employee development, skills assessment, and advancement programs.

  • Assist in identifying and implementing waste and energy reduction opportunities that help to achieve sustainability goals.

  • Work closely with Engineering to build reliability into new projects.

  • May participate in FAT and commissioning of new or modified equipment.

  • Stay current in best practices, technical and industry advancements related to reliability, maintenance training and sustainability. Identify and deliver best practices across the site and communicate successes throughout the company.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Time commitment to role:

    • 60% Develop, implement, and sustain reliability programs.

    • 30% Develop, implement, and sustain skills and equipment / system training.

    • 10% Develop, implement, and sustain sustainability initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Requires a four-year degree in either Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or other related Engineering field or a High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years equivalent experience.
