New Bedford Economic Development Council Director - Financial Management in NEW BEDFRD, Massachusetts

The New Bedford Economic Development Council (NBEDC) is a nonprofit organization comprised of over 400 successful leaders in business, education, and government led by a nine-member Board of Directors. In conjunction with the Mayor\'s Office, the Council sets the agenda for the city\'s key strategic economic development areas. The Executive Director of the NBEDC, with a talented and dedicated team of six professionals, is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the organization\'s programs and initiatives. https://nbedc.org/ Director- Financial Management Day-to-Day Accounting and Misc. Duties Manage the day-to-day accounting and fiscal reporting of the NBEDC ensuring that every transaction meets regulatory requirements and is operating within generally accepted accounting principles. Oversight of loans receivable processing. Ensure that the NBEDC\'s accounting practices and procedures are in accordance with governmental laws, regulations, and the required provisions of contracts and specific grant agreements. Prepare financial reports and present findings to the executive director, finance committee, and board of directors. Manage cash, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, deposits, and withdrawals of NBEDC accounts. Monitor the operating budget and expenditures associated with grants and separate fund sources. Manage all aspects of QuickBooks online, including fixed assets, chart of accounts, journal vouchers, etc. Provide financial guidance and technical assistance to small business entrepreneurs, prospective entrepreneurs and others to assist in developing basic accounting, banking skills as well as avoiding financial fraud concerns Monitor and account for all accounts receivable loans. Grant and Management Service RFP Applications and Recovery Contribute directly to the NBEDC\'s efforts to seek and apply for appropriate grants and RFPs for services to enhance the financial stability and stated programmatic goals of the organization. Responsible for billing various grant and foundation sources, as well as Quest center management and collections of all rents and monthly rent analysis Also serving as the NBEDC\'s direct point-of-contact for day-to-day accounting. Financial Planning, Reporting & Compliance Preparation of all operating budgets and financial reports with projections monthly. Oversee internal requirements for annual independent audit. Prepare all financial schedules and required documentation relative to audit, 990 and Commonwealth filings through successful completion of all facets of audit. Prepare vendor analysis report for those requiring 1099\'s and those excluded. Assure compliance with all loan covenants pertaining to financials. Report to the board of directors on the NBEDC\'s fiscal position and cash projections. Review cash management daily Reconciliation of all loans outstanding to and with the NBEDC and 28 cash accounts. Developing New Financial Models for Growth Continuously explore new opportunities for continuing fiscal stability of the NBEDC. Recommend to the executive director, finance committee, and board of directors investment policies and practices. Implement as approved and directed. Human Resources Responsible for coordination with outside consultant(s) and record keeping of all phases of concerns and issues with human resources of the NBEDC. Payroll processing and accounting and tracking of all employee\'s time, including creating and managing timesheets. Reviewing and preparing reports and recommendations for all fringe benefits Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in accounting/ finance or other business-related field of study Two or more years of experience in non-profit accounting or related field Familiarity with grant accounting and audit requirements Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills High level of intergrity and accountability
