Craven Community College Academic Support Professional Tutor (Part-time) in New Bern, North Carolina

Occupational Summary

The Academic Support Professional Tutor is responsible for providing tutorial assistance and academic support to Craven Community College students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Tutor students individually or in group study sessions to review concepts, solve problems, and review for tests
  • Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students diverse cultures, language skills, varying abilities, and experiences
  • Reviews course content to help students understand expectations
  • Provide assistance in the use of equipment, technology, or learning materials needed for student success
  • Assists in the development and delivery of soft skills techniques, workshops, or classroom visits
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve tutoring skills and grow tutoring practices
  • Serves as an embedded tutor as needed
  • May need to assist in light administrative tasks including documenting students who enter and leave the center or answering phone calls
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the content area or a related subject area from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
