Occupational Summary
The Academic Support Professional Tutor is responsible for providing tutorial assistance and academic support to Craven Community College students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Tutor students individually or in group study sessions to review concepts, solve problems, and review for tests
- Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students diverse cultures, language skills, varying abilities, and experiences
- Reviews course content to help students understand expectations
- Provide assistance in the use of equipment, technology, or learning materials needed for student success
- Assists in the development and delivery of soft skills techniques, workshops, or classroom visits
- Participate in professional development activities to improve tutoring skills and grow tutoring practices
- Serves as an embedded tutor as needed
- May need to assist in light administrative tasks including documenting students who enter and leave the center or answering phone calls
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the content area or a related subject area from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
