Job Summary:The Patient Care Technician II assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patient and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Tech II duties include but are not limited to secretarial functions and NA II skills.

Minimum Requirements:High school graduate or equivalency required. Nurses Aide I certification listed with Division of Facility Services and Nurses Aide II certification by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Some understanding of medical terminology. At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurses Aide I or Nurses Aide II is preferred. Ability to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care, maintaining workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities. Ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the nursing unit(s).The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/ area's/ department's policies and procedures. Current CPR certification required.
