Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Dean for Admissions and Enrollment Management for the Mason Gross School of the Arts. This position oversees all aspects of admissions, recruitment, financial aid, and scholarship allocation at Mason Gross, developing and implementing strategies to recruit a highly accomplished and diverse undergraduate and graduate student body from across the state, nationally, and internationally. Reporting directly to the Dean and serving on the Dean's Cabinet, the Assistant Dean works closely and collaboratively with faculty as well as school and university administration to establish and meet specific enrollment goals, seeking ways to increase the enrollment of underrepresented students and otherwise align enrollment objectives with the school's overall strategic priorities. Overseeing a team of admissions professionals and student workers, this position is the principal liaison to university Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions, Office of Financial Aid, and Enrollment Management.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Implements a data-driven approach to establishing schoolwide enrollment management goals in consultation with school leadership and university admissions.
  • Works closely with department chairs and faculty to plan and implement recruitment initiatives to attract a talented and diverse undergraduate and graduate student body.
  • Leads a team of admissions professionals as well as student workers in overseeing all on- and off-campus recruitments events, including auditions, interviews, college fairs, open houses, prospective student visits, etc.
  • Oversees the development and production of recruitment and marketing materials using digital and print media, working collaboratively with the school's Director of Communications.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for current students, applicants, faculty, and departmental leadership regarding all financial aid and scholarships, including merit aid, endowed awards, and departmental awards.
  • Works closely with department chairs and senior school leadership in allocating scholarship funds to facilitate the recruitment of a talented and diverse student body.
  • Oversees the processing, communication, and monitoring of all financial awards working in collaboration with colleagues across Mason Gross and the rest of the university.
  • Oversees and coordinates all admissions procedures, including the use of software used to review, process, and communicate admissions decisions, aligning review processes with university procedures and timelines.
  • Maintains and communicates admissions-related data and statistics.
  • Participates in senior leadership meetings, attend high-visibility events and performances, and maintain involvement in professional networks of collegiate arts admissions professionals.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree.
  • Three (3) years of experience in arts admissions and/or arts management (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • One (1) year of experience supervising one or more employees.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Significant experience and knowledge in CRM systems, admissions application systems, and reporting software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in performing or visual arts.
  • Five years of experience in admissions in a unit that supports performing and/or visual arts.
  • Familiarity with Rutgers University systems and structures.
