Posting Summary | Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School {RWJMS) is seeking an acute care surgeon for a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery. The position includes clinical responsibilities on each of the three services {Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, Critical Care); and the applicant must be dedicated to the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows in Acute Care Surgery. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital {RWJUH) in New Brunswick, NJ is the core teaching hospital for RWJMS and one of only three ACS verified Level I Trauma Centers in the state. RWJUH is a tertiary referral center for cardiac, vascular and neuroscience services, as well as home to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. It is t he flagship hospital for RWJBarnabas Health - the largest health system in NJ serving a population of 5 million. Applicant s must be BC/BE in Surgery and have attained or be eligible for Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. |

Overview | Provide evidence based medicine to patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Collaborate with institutional leadership, physician partners, and nursing colleagues to ensure high quality care for surgical patients in all settings including: the outpatient offices, Trauma, ICUs, ED and inpatient units. Participates in research activities within the Division, Department and/or Medical School. Contributes to patient recruitment for studies, participates in research meetings.Provide unrestricted call coverage at all facilities as determined by Divisional leadership of Rutgers Health Group at the discretion of the Chief of Acute Care Surgery.Actively participate in medical student, resident and fellow education through didactic lectures, research activities, evaluation of programs, interviews, small group sessions and/or clinical supervision.Document and bill for provider activities accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner according to hospital and medical school policies.Provide active participate in the teaching programs, attend conferences, grand rounds, and hospital committees as requested.Promote the program throughout the region and nation through participation in regional and national conferences and societies.Participate in process/quality improvement in care delivery of surgical patients and participate in quality initiatives.Comply with all medical school and hospital medical staff bylaws, clinical practice guidelines and policies. |
