The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) and the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources at Rutgers University-New Brunswick invite applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2025. The hire is part of a 7 faculty member cluster hire in Evolutionary Medicine.
We seek a scholar-teacher studying the ecology of disease in wild animal populations. We define wild populations broadly to include terrestrial and aquatic animal species living in any ecosystem. The successful candidate will be able to quantitatively explore the effects of diseases on wildlife populations via field and/or modeling approaches. We are particularly interested in candidates working with emerging and zoonotic diseases, but this is not required.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded, innovative research program that will broaden SEBS' existing strengths in the ecology and evolution of disease, and biodiversity conservation. The successful applicant will align with our values of inclusivity, interdisciplinary excellence, and scholarly relevance. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses aligned with their background and departmental needs. They will also be committed to student research mentoring and engaging with the broader community.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
Preferred candidates have a PhD and postdoctoral experience relevant to wildlife disease ecology and have a demonstrated ability to conduct research, engage in grantsmanship, teach at the collegiate level, and mentor students.
