Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Fitness Assessment Technician for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Administers and interprets physiological and performance testing.
  • Assists Fitness Coordinator in administering testing, classes, fee collection, and monitoring for general population and athletes.
  • Assists Fitness Coordinator with increasing visibility of the center.
Position Status Part Time
Hours Per Week Up to 19hrs./week
Daily Work Shift
Work Arrangement
This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
FLSA Nonexempt
Position Salary $29-35/hr.
Payroll Designation PeopleSoft

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years related experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in health related field.
  • 3+ years experience training in one on one and group setting.
  • Knowledge of and skills necessary to interpret data from: Cosmed Bodpod, Cosmed Metabolic Cart, Parvo metabolic cart, Microsoft office suite of programs.
  • Performs Bodpod body composition testing, VO2max testing, Lactate Threshold testing, strength testing, Resting Metabolic Rate testing; knowledge of advanced exercise testing and prescription for athletes, general population, special population.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • The role requires the ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time.
  • Generally, you must be able to lift and carry equipment that weighs up to 50lbs.
  • The facility is similar to most fitness center/gym environments and exercise physiology labs.
