The School of Communication and Information (SC&I) on the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus houses a dynamic community of scholars who conduct engaged research and teach in the areas of communication, information science, media studies, information technology, journalism, librarianship, organizational and health communication, public relations, and other professional practice areas.   • Supervises the use of ROCS.
  • Manages the onboarding process and serves as an approver of new employees in HCM, eVerify, and other systems.
  • Handles salary administration and payroll.
  • Tracks faculty lifecycle and administration.
  • Handles administration of staff HR transactions.
  • Works closely with the Associate Dean for Administration and the Director of Business and Administration, the position assures the school is compliant with all federal, state, university, and school policies related to human resources.
  • Manages all HR data and documents.
  • Creates reports.
  • Responds to queries from the school's employees regarding all human resources issues.
  • Works independently, with broadly defined work objectives, and limited review of overall results.
  • Performs professional work requiring specialized knowledge in several fields of human resources, and a solid understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, and terminology in human resources.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, in human resources management or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience of increasing responsibility in a managerial role that demonstrates knowledge of human resources administration and development, including current and emerging issues, preferably in a higher education environment.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, ability to present professionally at meetings, to write effective memos and emails.
  • A high level of proficiency with computers and systems relevant to HR and office work, and the ability to research and learn new technology independently.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, work both independently and on a team, demonstrate sound judgment on sensitive matters.
  • Advanced knowledge of human resources management is necessary in order to fulfill the responsibilities related to compliance issues, salary and equity analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree.
  • Prefers four years of managerial experience in higher education.
Equipment Utilized
  • This position requires the regular use of a Windows computer and expertise with software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.); database systems; large online HR management systems; common office equipment including printers, copiers; systems that support hybrid and remote work such as videoconferencing; an ability to learn new technology as required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • This position has the common physical demands of most office workers in higher education.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. when handling records.
  • May need to rearrange rolling tables and chairs in offices and meeting rooms.
  • Will irregularly need to attend evening or weekend events (a handful each year), and attend meetings across campus.
