Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the principal investigator. Incumbent expected to carry out various experimental and bioinformatics studies in the area of the lab. The focus of the Pasqualini lab is in the area of differential protein expression in the human vascular endothelium, associated with normal or diseased tissues, offers the potential for developing novel diagnostic, imaging, and therapeutic strategies. Our program uses peptide- and antibody-based combinatorial library selection to discover, validate, and exploit the vascular biochemical diversity of endothelial cell surfaces towards identifying new vascular targeted pharmacologics for clinical translation. Candidates should have a new or recent Ph.D. degree and strong background in molecular biology and mammalian cell biology (ABD candidates will be considered in the application process, but must be able to verify their PhD prior to start date). The candidate will have the opportunity to join and grow a highly productive lab.Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Perform independent research relevant to the interest and field of differential protein expression in the human vascular endothelium, associated with normal or diseased tissues, offers the potential for developing novel diagnostic, imaging, and therapeutic strategies. Our program uses peptide- and antibody-based combinatorial library selection to discover, validate, and exploit the vascular biochemical diversity of endothelial cell surfaces towards identifying new vascular targeted pharmacologics for clinical translation.
  • Expected to publish reports of key findings in a timely manner.
  • Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to the research.
  • Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted and maintains an up to date understanding of the relevant literature.
  • Gives oral presentations of the research at lab meetings and conferences.
  • Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians, and laboratory assistants as required.
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to publish scientific research papers/articles.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • The Post Doctoral Fellow candidate should have a new or recent PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related science.
  • Qualified candidates must be in the process of completing or have finished the training for Ph.D. and/or M.D. Candidates must provide proof that all requirements have been fulfilled before their position start date.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be competent in standard laboratory techniques.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Background in cancer biology research as evidenced by a strong publication record in the field is desirable.
