Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Program Manager (Statewide-South) within the Office of Human Research Services (OHRS) at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.The primary purpose of the Statewide Research Program Manager is to establish workflows and processes to support high-quality clinical research activities throughout designated region of the Rutgers Oncology service line and serve as a liaison between the local sites and the Office of Human Research Services. This individual is responsible for planning, supervising and monitoring the daily work of all research staff supporting these activities and assuring that all clinical research conducted within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey is according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines as well as applicable Institutional, State and Federal regulations and guidelines. In addition, this position is responsible for meeting the goals and objectives established by the leadership team.Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Responsible for the supervision of day-to-day statewide clinical research operations serving as primary contact for all protocol related requests.
  • Supervision and assignment of research team providing support and guidance consistent with staff needs as indicated by written evaluation and consultation with management and providers.
  • Actively contributes to creating a friendly, welcoming and safe environment for research participants and implementing processes that are patient centered and meet/exceed needs.
  • Provides coverage within designated territory as appropriate performing abstraction of data from source records in human subject charts (i.e., laboratory or diagnostic test results, surgical/radiation treatments delivered, adverse drug reactions, etc); abstraction of data from publications, or data collection from outside physician offices.
  • Conducts Quality Assurance audits performing regular audits of assigned team to ensure that the data collected is completed and accurate and to ensure that the research project, database or protocol is carried out as outlined.
  • Serves productively on CINJ/Department Committees maintaining knowledge of and participation in Performance Improvement (PI) activities by collecting data within established timeframes, identifying and reporting potential PI problems to OHRS Director, and willing participation in the design and implementation of changes in the department based on PI results.
  • Works collaboratively with physician colleagues, nurses, nurse coordinators, pharmacy, reception staff, and all members of the Office of Human Research Services, Advanced Practice Nurses, appropriate hospital and laboratory staff to ensure that services are coordinated and delivered to patients in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a social science or related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of oncology research experience required.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of supervisory experience in a clinical research environment required.
  • May substitute years of experience for education.
Certifications/Licenses
  • American Heart Associate: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Detail oriented, have excellent organizational skills, be proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, Oncore), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to maximize resources and be resourceful.
  • Maintains working knowledge of DHHS, FDA, OHRP, NIH, GCP, HIPPA, IRB and other applicable guidelines.
  • Adjusts hours of work to meet job demands.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred.
  • Supervision in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Association of Clinical Research Professional (CCRC) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (CCRC) certification preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
