Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Director of Administration for the department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Services at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.Primarily responsible to develop, implement, direct and provide overall management of the administrative infrastructure for a complex and widely dispersed academic department so as to support the chair's academic, research and clinical programs whether university or hospital based. Scope of position requires administrative leadership in general administration, financial management, organizational development, labor relations, marketing, operations management, information systems management, and overall policy and procedure development and implementation. Overarching responsibility is ensuring the department's very best selection and use of resources for maintaining and developing department programs.Among the they duties of this position are the following:
  • Develops, implements and constantly renew and refresh overall administrative program to support the program objectives of the Chair.
  • Develops, implement and manages annual departmental budget of approximately $20 million including clinical, academic and research components to support chairman's objectives. Provides overall guidance for all departmental/divisional major procurement decisions and ongoing spending policies to meet budgetary objectives.
  • Provides administrative direction and leadership for divisional program administrators.
  • Encourages, fosters and requires development of standardized administrative practice throughout departments with four extensive and dispersed operating divisions with companion satellite practices.
  • Develops and ensures implementation of overall clinical practice process standards and objectives.
  • Works with division directors to refine divisional clinical practice incentive programs to best-fit divisional and departmental programmatic goals.
  • Develops and implements physician productivity monitoring system.
  • Develops and manages department's administrative organization to maintain best fit of resources and environmental demands.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Masters' Degree in Hospital or Business Administration or related field plus ten (10) years of management experience with fiscal, program and personnel responsibilities, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Experience in the formulation of health care policies.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Exceptional communication skills and excellent team building skills.
  • Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
