Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Tutor II (Multiple Vacancies) for Academic Support Services.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Provides academic assistance to assigned tutees, either individually or in pairs.
  • Assists with time management and organization for courses in which students are enrolled.
  • Provides direct assistance in reading and understanding assigned texts for all humanities/social science/liberal arts courses in which students are enrolled.
  • Assists students to comprehend assignment requirements and develop a plan to meet them by improving academic capabilities
  • Helps students develop a positive attitude toward learning and studying, as well as strong motivation in academic areas.
  • Attends initial and subsequent training sessions to ensure and maintain NCAA compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or previous experience working with students or teaching.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expert in various course subjects.
  • Interest both in course content in the field and in providing teaching-based academic support for academically at-risk students.
  • Expertise or experience with the Labor Studies and Employment Relations department at Rutgers University.
  • Patience, persistence, and a positive attitude.
