Lead Paraprofessional

The Lead Paraprofessional for Young Adult Services works as a team with the YAS Case Managers and the DRS management team to provide daily oversight of the Young Adult Services Transitional Sites. The Lead Paraprofessional works with the DRS management team to ensure all the program requirements are carried out for the day, and all the individuals’ needs are met as outlined in their recovery plans, schedules and behavior or other plans. The Lead Paraprofessional fosters a therapeutic, community environment designed to assist young adults in achieving independence and stability in the community that will ensure that each young adult experiences a seamless service delivery system. They assist with the development and training of a competent workforce and ensures adequate staff coverage is achieved daily in accordance with state contracts as well as individual and program needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following duties. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Creates an environment of teamwork with an organized, coordinated and equitable schedule and routine of assigned responsibilities for the shift at both Gilbert and Sherman sites and moves fluidly between both sites as needed.

  • Works as a team with the paraprofessionals on shift to ensure all daily shift responsibilities are assigned and completed by designated staff.

  • Provides direct service coverage for shift responsibilities as needed.

  • Works as a team with the other Lead Paraprofessional to ensure a smooth transition between shifts, and to ensure all shift responsibilities are assigned and carried out every shift, on every day, whether or not a Lead is working.

  • With equal competence, balances time between organizing the shift responsibilities, providing staff direction on shift duties as needed, providing direct service, and overseeing and completing documentation.

  • Able to communicate clearly and succinctly, write with good grammar and spelling, and to create written schedules, plans and directions.

  • Maintains a presence on the shift in both sites for shift assignment, observation, direction, direct service, transportation and role modeling of best practices and follow through with all individual and group programming.

  • Serves as a role model to staff to demonstrate professionalism, alacrity, active treatment, teamwork, person-centered services, positive adult behavior, trauma informed and recovery principles.

  • Models best practices in carrying out shift responsibilities according to program procedures and individual teaching or behavior strategies.

  • Works closely with the Senior Director of Operations and Senior Clinical Director to create a therapeutic, trauma informed community environment that fosters respect and belonging through young adult-centered activities, groups and routines and rituals.

  • Schedules, leads and assigns groups as planned.

  • Operates motor vehicles safely and in accordance with State Law (agency and personal automobiles) while on work related duties. Will be required to drive own vehicle for work.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree or an Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred, plus two years of experience in a residential or similar setting; or in lieu of college education, a High School Diploma with four years’ of related experience working in a residential or similar setting with a similar population.

  • SCHEDULE :

  • Su-Th 3pm-10pm

    SALARY

  • 18.25/hr. Increases to $18.75/hr, after 6 months
