Robert Half Legal Assistant in New Haven, Connecticut

Description

Our client, a midsized/large law firm in the northeast, is seeking a Legal Assistant to add to their Labor Relations & Employment Law Group in either New Haven, CT -OR- New York, NY. This particular group predominantly represents management in all types of employment-related legal matters. Candidate must be well-organized, highly motivated, and technologically adept.

Duties will include:

  • calendaring and deadlines

  • depositions

  • file opening

  • scheduling

  • e-filing (CT & NY state & federal)

  • managing internal files

  • expense reports

  • travel arrangements

  • time entry

  • proofreading

  • TOC and TOAs

  • assisting with marketing efforts etc.

  • Assist in the preparation of Table of Contents (TOC) and Table of Authorities (TOA)

  • Proficient usage of document management software

  • Manage expense reports and travel arrangements

  • Support marketing efforts, including the creation of invitations for networking with clients

  • Carry out administrative tasks such as mail handling, filing, and order supplies

  • Conduct research for client events and other networking activities.

    Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Power Point and preparation of TOC’s and TOA’s. Prior experience with document management software is necessary and experience with Net Documents, Aderant, employment law and/or insurance defense is a plus. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor. Traditional admin work: expense reimbursement, order supplies, no personal assistant-type stuff, but travel reservations, creating an invitation (for networking with clients). Someone who will not take offense scheduling some networking things that are like researching social things. Mail, filing, and scheduling, and research (client events), expense reports.

    Requirements

• Possession of a minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal assistant role or similar position within the legal industry

• Demonstrable skills in calendar management, claim administration, and client relations

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

• Proficiency in the use of Table of Authorities (TOA)

• Strong administrative skills, including file management, scheduling, and documentation

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Demonstrable ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

• A bachelor's degree in law, paralegal studies, or a related field is preferred.
