Job Summary

Perform highly skilled work and direct the work of others in the maintaining, repairing, inspecting, installing, rebuilding and construction of all types of power plant equipment and buildings, and correct the causes of trouble that develops in such equipment.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.) Demonstrate the ability to perform all welding techniques in all applicable positions to meet all applicable code requirements. Qualified candidates must further demonstrate a working knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools and equipment, as well as materials necessary to complete certified welds to include the ability to examine and analyze welds for defects.

2.) Diagnose trouble and maintain mechanical equipment by the performance of duties such as inspect boiler apparatus and report conditions such as hot spots on tubes, tube erosion. and tube leakage.

3.) Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned and defined in the maintenance mechanic demonstrations.

4.) Perform heat treatment of metals such as tempering, case hardening, etc. Perform Code stress relieving as necessary.

5.) Fabricate and install pipe, fittings and structural steel to specifications indicated on shop or construction drawings. All welds to be performed in accordance with Code specifications.

6.) Obtain and verify all applicable permits to insure that the equipment upon which they are assigned to work is properly isolated and protected to allow the safe completion of the work. Permits to include but are not limited to Clearance, Hot Work, Open Hole, and Grating Removal.

7.) Employee shall instruct and direct other employees assigned to assist in the work as necessary to facilitate the completion of the work in a safe, timely fashion.

8.) Must be able to read and understand a welding traveler, and further understand their role in protecting the integrity of the AEP, R , Stamp that allows us to repair boilers & pressure vessels

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education requirements are listed below: Must have a two-year Associate Degree in a technical field or equivalent or military related experience.

Work Experience requirement listed below: Must have performed the duties of, and have maintained all the qualifications and current certifications of the Maintenance Mechanic, and must be able to pass an examination, as required, and in addition:

1) Must fully qualify in all Prinicipal Accountabilites.

2) Must have a thorough working knowledge of the layout, construction and functions of the equipment and apparatus in and about the plant property.

3) Must have a thorough working knowledge of plant maintenance, materials, practices, tools, rigging, scaffolding, and blocking involved in the work.

4) Must pass the initial qualification tests and maintain through regular recertifications as prescribed by the Company, the Insurance Company and the A.S.M.E. Boiler and Pressure Code, and applicable State Codes for any welding work.

5) Must be able to read, interpret and work from complex prints and specifications.

6) Must have a thorough working knowledge of equipment clearance procedures and the rules,safety practices, and procedures applicable to the work.

7) Must have a working knowledge of OSHA, Regulatory, and Environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Must possess a valid State driver's license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Physical demand level is Medium

1) Must have demonstrated the ability to lead and direct other employees and coordinate the work involved.

2) Must possess a valid State driver's license.

3) Line of progression from Maintenance Mechanic , 10,000 hours of power plant experience, of which 6,000 must be spent in a maintenance department.

4) Must have completed all Maintenance Mechanic demonstrations and complete all job demonstrations required for this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands required for this job, but not limited to:

1) Work at heights,climb ladders, frequent walking, standing

2) May require working and sustaining awkward positions including lying in supine and prone positions, side lying, sustained squatting/kneeling, overhead work and other awkward positions

3) Push/pull up to 65 lbs,carry up to 35 lbs

4) Environmental conditions of cold, heat, dust, fumes

$43.50-45.08 USD
