- Prepare purchase orders and solicit bid proposals for goods and services.
- Negotiate and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
- Submit and track supplier questionnaires.
- Receive material requisitions from assigned personnel and request approval to order.
- Determine which vendors have the best prices for requested items.
- Inform appropriate management of order confirmation and lead time.
- Track orders until received.
- Receive purchases, forward to appropriate personnel, enter into accounting software, and file paperwork in designated area awaiting an invoice.
- Enter and update Certificates of Insurance as needed.
- Oversee plant to warehouse transfers of lining materials, verifying that production paperwork matches the transfer.
- Purchase, track, and receive raw materials.
- Track raw material lot numbers and update as needed.
- Conduct weekly physical counts on all inventory items.
- Control all non-compliant and damaged raw material inventory items.
- Have basic knowledge of all raw materials and their use.
- Understand and abide by SQF Food Safety Requirements and the Principles of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences to learn about new industry trends and make contacts with suppliers.
- Implement barcoding system for our warehouse and plant personnel that will work with current software.
