Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Executive Director, Sales Training & Leadership Development will oversee and develop the strategy for a best-in-class sales training curriculum to support current and expanding sales and sales leadership teams. This role requires strong leadership skills with the ability to anticipate future employee development programs in addition to managing the day-to-day sales training programs. Requires a commitment to assessing product knowledge and selling skills for sales management as well as evaluating training programs that prepare the sales management team to lead the sales organization’s achievement of corporate and sales objectives.

Responsibilities

Sales Training Strategy, Execution Responsibilities, and Deliverables :

  • Develop and lead the strategic vision of sales training to align with current and future sales and marketing strategies, driving the organization toward continuous improvement and learning.

  • Execute and manage the Field Sales organization’s design, implementation, and evaluation of sales training programs, supporting professional and leadership development of a diverse sales force (PCP, Specialty, Institutional) and payer team members.

  • Create a sustainable leadership development program for new and existing sales managers and assess evolution of ITCI sales and coaching models.

  • Partners with legal and compliance to ensure effective and timely roll out of compliance training, assessments, and certifications.

  • Drives sales training strategies for product launches. Serve as key member of product launch teams including collaborating with marketing/sales leadership to train and optimize approved selling tools and promotional materials.

  • Oversees delineation of training objectives and delivery for manager meetings and POA Meetings, ensuring PRC approvals for training workshops and materials.

  • Apply adult learning principles to product, selling skills, territory management, sales management, and leadership skills training. Align training priorities with necessary skills to support marketing strategy.

  • Implement training delivery modes which will be engaging and interactive, leveraging multiple formats: in-person, virtual, and e-learning platforms.

  • Select vendors and consultant services to augment sales training and development initiatives as needed.

  • Maintain training and development expertise (via research, benchmarking, and continuously seeking industry knowledge) to ensure ITCI sales training initiatives are on the cutting edge.

Sales Training Team Management Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management and development of the Sales Training Team to achieve departmental and professional goals within timelines and budgets set.

  • Creation and management of the Training Department budget to produce cost-effective training programs within budgeted resources.

  • Provide appropriate timely direct feedback to employees to ensure appropriate clarity of expectations, coaching and development.

  • Through 2 nd line leadership, ensure training team works effectively across department and with all business partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Business, Education or Science preferred. Advanced degree in Business of Organizational Development is preferred

  • Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and Sales Management experience required with Psychiatry experience strongly preferred; other specialties may be considered.

  • Must have 10+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical Sales Training effectively leading, motivating, and developing teams.

  • 2+ years of second line leadership experience required.

  • Strong partnership with sales leadership to identify gaps and evaluate future needs of training of sales training.

  • Experience in adult learning/education required; corresponding certifications preferred.

  • Must be able to travel 15% of the time or as required based on business needed.

  • Complete all company and job-related training as assigned within the required timelines.

Executive Director, Sales Training & Leadership Development: Base Salary Range $250,000 - $280,000
