POSITION SUMMARY(include key objectives, accomplishments or outcomes for the position):

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Policy and Advocacy to lead our efforts in shaping and advancing our policy agenda. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in policy development, advocacy strategy, and stakeholder engagement, with a deep commitment to improving health equity and access to care.

This position is responsible for developing CrescentCares advocacy infrastructure and advancing the organizations health policy priorities through short and long-term strategies at the federal, state, municipal, or parish level.

RESPONSIBILITIES(The major functional areas Employees member is responsible for)

  • Develop and implement CrescentCares comprehensive policy and advocacy strategy for the local, state, and federal level that aligns with the organizations mission, goals and priorities.

``` - Collaborate with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and partners to craft effective and strategic policy recommendations.

``` - Monitor emerging policy issues, trends, and opportunities to proactively shape our advocacy agenda and policy priorities and then brief and make recommendations to the senior leadership team on positions and the implications of activities.

``` - Conduct research and analysis to develop policy positions, proposals, and advocacy materials.

``` - Lead and coordinate public policy advocacy efforts at local, state, and federal levels.

``` - Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, government officials, and key stakeholders across the political spectrum to advance our advocacy and policy goals

``` - Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with coalition partners, community leaders, advocates, and other partner organizations.

``` - Engage and mobilize grassroots supporters, leveraging digital tools and traditional outreach methods to build a strong advocacy base.

``` - Develop compelling messaging and communication strategies and materials to promote policy positions and advocacy efforts.

``` - Establish metrics and systems for tracking the impact of advocacy efforts and policy outcomes.

``` - Conduct regular assessments and report on the progress and effectiveness of advocacy strategies and campaigns.

``` - Serve as an organizational thought-leader on relevant public health policy issues

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field required (Masters degree preferred).

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in policy analysis, advocacy, or governmental relations in a non-profit space, with a demonstrated track record of successful policy initiatives and substantial knowledge of local, state and federal policy issues and the political landscape.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Extended periods of sitting required.
