U.S. Coast Guard Program Support Assistant, GS-0303-07 in New Orleans, Louisiana

Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Eighth Coast Guard District, Reserve Force Readiness Staff, in New Orleans, LA. Responsibilities This position's primary purpose is to serve as the Program Support Assistant, performing administrative and accounting practices and procedures duties. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Overseeing orders approval process in Direct Access on behalf of District units to include effective and efficient utilization of resources. Identifying resources (funding, platform, equipment, personnel etc.), and mitigates gaps/conflicts among District units. Advising the Sectors on IDT/ADT utilization and force readiness by analyzing the participation of the districts SELRES personnel in comparison to the unit training plan. Managing/executing operational training funds (AFC-90) for sectors and District assigned SELRES personnel, including IDT berthing. Assisting with FORCECOM local audit of OPCOM unit use of IDT/ADT. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. A one year probationary period may be required. This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). The position requires a valid state driver's license. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Status applicants applying for a promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade. Qualifications GS-7: To be qualified at the GS-7 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level GS-06 in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Some examples of specialized experience are responding to requests from the public; using effective interpersonal skills when working with others; utilizing various software to develop and update databases and run reports; maintaining tracking systems; and preparing supervisor's travel schedule. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
