Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that participates in investigating and litigating civil and criminal cases by providing litigation support services to the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Louisiana. Typical work assignments will include: Serving as the District's Litigation Technology Manager, which you will be responsible for the overall supervision, coordination, and assignment of Legal Administrative Specialists casework and ensuring adequate coverage during pretrial, trial, and post-trial stages; Reviewing, assessing, and developing litigation policies and procedures to ensure they are consistent with current policies and objectives; Developing and providing training to users on litigation equipment, technology, and protocols; Analyzing complex litigation support requirements to develop or recommend appropriate strategies to meet litigation needs; Advising attorneys and legal staff on legal automation requirements and system capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions; Performing a variety of complex litigation support tasks to prepare or manage electronic discovery, evidence, exhibits, and other electronically stored information relevant to investigations and casework; Utilizing automated litigation support technology to organize voluminous case information for retrieval and prepare electronic case material for trial presentation; Providing technical advice, customer support services, and project management services in connection with electronic discovery and evidence, litigation support projects, and litigation technology software applications; Applying knowledge of the litigation process, federal rules of procedure and evidence, court programs, automation requirements, and characteristics to resolve problems. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as working in a legal environment providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and system capabilities; analyzing complex litigation support requirements to develop or recommend appropriate strategies to meet litigation needs; evaluating incoming electronic case materials to determine if they are in usable format; maintaining accurate and current records of incoming electronic case materials; using specialized software applications to organize, review, process, and produce discovery; and building and maintaining document review databases for case teams. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
