Summary:
The Weight Room Coach is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strength and conditioning programs that promote physical fitness, improve athletic performance, and reduce the risk of injury. This position involves working closely with student-athletes, athletic teams, and coaches to ensure proper training techniques and safety in the weight room environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to the needs of individual athletes and sports teams.
- Instruct and demonstrate proper lifting techniques, emphasizing safety and injury prevention.
- Supervise and motivate athletes during training sessions, ensuring that all workouts are performed with correct form and intensity.
- Monitor and adjust training regimens to accommodate athletes' progress, fitness levels, and rehabilitation from injuries.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the weightroom and its equipment.
- Collaborate with athletic trainers, physical therapists, and coaching staff to support athletes' overall health and performance goals.
- Track and evaluate athletes' performance data, setting measurable goals and assessing improvements.
- Educate athletes on nutrition, recovery, and wellness to enhance training outcomes.
- Develop and enforce weight room policies, ensuring a respectful and disciplined training environment.
- Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and research in strength and conditioning.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field (preferred).
Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist [CSCS], USA Weightlifting, or equivalent), or willingness to receive certifications.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Strong knowledge of strength training, conditioning techniques, and injury prevention.
Excellent communication, m
