Dairy Farmers of America Quality Assurance Supervisor in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania

General Purpose: Responsible for plant adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Conduct GMP training for new employees as well as the monthly plant employee training.
- Supervise the Custodial department.
- Primary backup for the Lab Supervisor as needed.
- Measure the performance of the sanitation procedures and CIP systems. Monitor the recording charts and perform chemical strength tests
- Review lab records as necessary, yeast/mold, coliform, environmental and charm ATP swabs determining the effectiveness of SSOP's
- Audit the Master Sanitation cleaning schedules and report results to management
- Audit HACCP records for cheese and whey plants weekly and report results
- Assist the Manager of Quality Assurance and Compliance in developing quality programs in the plant, and works with external auditors both regulatory and internal.
- Function as liason between plant and chemical supply companies
- Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of position
- Follow and make sure department follows all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory quality and sanitation requirements
- Follow and make sure department follows all safety and environmental regulations
- Perform related duties as needed
Travel Requirements: 5%
Required Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience * Bachelor of Science in Food Science,Biological Sciences, Chemistry or related field. * Previous experience in Lab/Quality/Sanitation departments. * Dairy experience preferred
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Strong computer skills. * Ability to calibrate a variety of testing equipment
Licensing and Certification: * PA PDA Lab Directors License * SQF Practitioner * PCQI (Preventive Control Qualified Individual * Food Defense Qualified Individual
