Job Title: Junior Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Location: Hybrid-Flexed

Hourly range: $28.57 to $37.36* *New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

Position Overview:

The Junior Accountant will provide day to day support for accounting transactions and general ledger entries. The Junior Accountant will work under the direction of the Accounting Manager and the Controller.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Input and reconcile ACH batches.

  • Prepare reconciliation for petty cash and metro cards for programs.

  • Maintain invoice and vendor files, scan documentation to be filed electronically.

  • Prepare bank deposits.

  • Support audit field work.

  • Prepare monthly corporate credit card expense summary, enter expenses and reconcile receipts from card holders.

  • Support Accounts Payable with entry of invoices in the Accounts Payable software, check processing, vendor file maintenance.

  • Assist Accounting Manager with journal entries and monthly close responsibilities.

  • Manage and organize financial documents and records Assist with internal and external audits

  • Record daily financial transaction in the general ledger

  • Assist Accounting Manager with journal entries and monthly close responsibilities.

  • Assists the Controller as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

  • CPA a plus

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience.

  • Experience in preparing, tracking, and analyzing reimbursement claims for New York City, New York State, Federal or non-governmental funding sources.

  • Experience in non-profit sector or government.

  • Knowledge of indirect cost rate and cost allocation methodologies a plus.

  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus.

  • Experience in ERP systems preferred (Workday, ADP, Oracle, SAP etc).

  • Ability to work well within a team environment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Problem solving skills and a can-do approach to work.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Communicate effectively to Finance department leadership.

Physical Requirements:

  • Will frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders to provide status updates and potential roadblocks

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time while reviewing data on a screen
