Summary:

  • The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation's oldest and largest public housing authority with more than 168,000 apartments and over 370,000 residents.   • Reporting to the Deputy Director within the Project Management Unit. The Junior Project Manager will provide end-to-end project management to support implementation of key projects and initiatives that are a priority for NYCHA. This includes: executing initiatives; identifying risks and working proactively to mitigate risks; develop and implement business process redesign and change management; create and manage communication plan and training to support process changes; review and amend policies and procedures accordingly; and work with stakeholders to manage the implementation of high priority departmental projects, liaise with all NYCHA departments, and coordinate and follow up on requests, projects and assignments.
  • The Junior Project Manager will be an effective communicator and a results-oriented problem solver who leads and tracks diverse management teams.
  • Coordinate projects under the purview of Operations; this includes gathering business requirements, testing applications, hosting workgroup meetings, and tracking tasks and progress.
  • Research and ensure projects are executed in accordance with the established NYCHA policies and procedures, and any federal, state, and/or city laws or regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of project updates, briefings, presentations, agendas, and project materials for internal and external meetings.
  • Interface with various stakeholders on all levels, including executive, senior management, line staff, residents, and third parties.
  • Liaise between various departments within the Housing Authority to communicate and coordinate Operational change implementation strategies and ensure uniformity throughout Operations.
  • Assist with the solicitation of feedback from the leadership team to identify gaps and propose corrective action plans, including mechanisms to evaluate progress; ensure that lessons learned are accurately documented and fully incorporated into policy and new initiatives.
  • Aid in strategic planning, guidance, oversight, and tracking for various operations initiatives.

  • Data Driven: Experience with manipulating data in Excel, Smartsheet, and/or other similar database tools. Ability to manage, blend, analyze, and report on quantitative data from multiple sources. Able to effectively roadmap operational changes through the use of Visio and/or Lucid Chart.
  • Detail-oriented: Reviews every comma, every equation, every anecdote, and every idea, so that every piece of work stands on a strong foundation.
  • Discrete: Acts and speaks with discretion, acknowledges that much of the work we do is sensitive and must respect many kinds of stakeholders; balances caution and conservatism with values of transparency.
