AI Engineering Intern

Internship Purpose:

NewsCorp is looking for an AI Engineering Intern to do an in office 3 days a week hybrid internship for 6 weeks starting late August through September.

This role will assist the AI Engineering team to develop and test new products and experimental LLMs for all business units.

Intern Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the AI engineering team in designing, developing, and deploying AI models and algorithms for various news-related tasks, including content analysis, sentiment analysis, recommendation systems, and automated content generation.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and journalists to understand the business needs and translate them into AI solutions.

  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging AI techniques, tools, and frameworks to enhance our AI capabilities and stay up-to-date with industry trends.

  • Collect, preprocess, and clean large datasets for training and evaluating AI models, ensuring data quality and integrity.

  • Support the implementation of data pipelines and infrastructure required for AI model training and deployment, working with cloud platforms and distributed computing systems.

  • Collaborate with the AI engineering team to optimize and fine-tune existing AI models, improving their performance, efficiency, and scalability.

  • Assist in the evaluation and testing of AI models, conducting experiments and analyzing results to provide insights and recommendations.

  • Document and present findings, methodologies, and experimental results to the team and stakeholders.

  • Stay informed about ethical considerations and biases in AI algorithms and work towards ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in our AI systems.

  • Contribute to the overall development and innovation of AI-related projects within the news organization.

Specific Project Deliverables:

  • Internal Incubation projects

  • Present research documentation and actionable results

Required Technical Skills and Software Applications:

  • 2+ years in either:

  • Python

  • JS / Node

  • Java

  • C++

  • 1+ years in either:

  • AWS

  • GCP

  • PyTorch

  • TensorFlow

Qualifications:

  • Rising seniors pursuing Computer Science degrees

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or technical/finishing school

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with data preprocessing techniques, feature engineering, and data visualization.

  • Operates as a team player and has an intellectual curiosity

  • Ability to prioritize and to work under pressure while maintaining high attention to detail

  • Knowledge of AI concepts, including natural language processing, deep learning, computer vision, and statistical modeling.

  • Knowledge of Generative AI and tools like Langchain, LLamaIndex is a plus.

Pay Range $18-$21 hourly
