Gastroenterologist for Center for Liver Disease & Transplantation (CLDT)

The Department of Medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons is seeking applications for a clinical faculty position. An Assistant or Associate Professor level, academic transplant hepatologist is wanted to work in the Center for Liver Disease & Transplantation (CLDT), part of the Abdominal Organ Transplant Division within the Department of Surgery.

A Transplant Hepatologist with responsibility for clinical research to expand scientific investigation in the field of end-stage liver disease and liver transplantation with an emphasis on frailty and participation in the multi-center Frailty and Liver Disease Consortium, will focus on patient-centered interventions to improve frailty among patients with liver disease and active patients on the organ transplant wait list.

The clinical faculty is responsible for comprehensive care of patients with hepatobiliary disorders, including pre- and post-transplant care, on-call coverage of Liver service, including at CLDT downtown campus, participation in the education of fellows, residents, and medical students; participation in outreach, participation in clinical and/or basic science research, participation in compliance and quality care programs of the University and of the Departments of Medicine and Surgery.

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.



Minimum Degree: MD, MD/PhD degree, or equivalent and eligible to be licensed to practice in the States of New York and New Jersey.

Minimum Qualifications:M Candidates must have completed an ACGME approved fellowships in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology. Must be board eligible/certified in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology; meet UNOS qualifications as a transplant physician. Proficiency in liver biopsies and standard endoscopic procedures also required.
