Working with the Deputy Superintendent for the Virtual Currency Unit and Deputy Superintendent for Limited Purpose Trust Companies, the Assistant Deputy Superintendent for Special Teams will oversee and manage the Special Teams functions across the VCU and LPTC Units. Special Teams functions for this role include the areas of Financial Crimes, Finance and Accounting, and coordination with Cybersecurity and CIB reviews. The Assistant Deputy Superintendent for Specialty Teams will provide input to support the development of DFS policy and lead multiple teams across the NYC and Albany offices. Working under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent for Virtual Currency and the Deputy Superintendent of Limited Purpose Trusts, as well as coordinating with other DFS Divisions, the position functions with great independence in advancing the Division’s objectives. Duties include, but are not limited to:• Briefs and advises the Deputy Superintendents across VCU and LPTC and the Executive Deputy Superintendent for Research & Innovation on a wide range of supervisory, transactional, regulatory, legislative, policy, enforcement and other matters related to the Special Teams;• Provides strategic direction in the risk-based allocation of Special Teams resources to applications and supervisory work; • Makes risk-based decisions to prioritize and coordinate work across the Special Teams unit to serve both supervisory units efficiently and effectively;• Coordinates with the Cybersecurity Division on the staffing of those external specialists to applications and supervisory work across the VC and LPTC teams; • Coordinates with the CIB Unit on reviews across applications and supervisory work across the VC and LPTC teams;• Analyzes and makes recommendations based on a thorough understanding of the short- and long-term impact of any Specialty Teams-related decisions, projects or initiatives;• Provides oversight and management of the activities and operations of the Specialty Teams unit, including establishing goals and priorities, monitoring performance, ensuring quality and consistency, ensuring objectives and priorities are met, and ensuring standards are adhered to;• Works closely with R&I staff, including examiners, analysts and lawyers associated with virtual currency related matters;• Works closely with staff in other Divisions of DFS, including the Office of General Counsel, Cyber Division, Legislative Affairs, Consumer Protection and Financial Enforcement Division;• Leads or participates in meetings and conferences and generally interacts with regulated entities or their representatives, industry organizations, and other governmental agencies; and• Other duties as assigned;• Travel may be required up to 25%.

Additional Comments Salary: $123,793 - $156,224 (salary commensurate with experience)Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $3,400 annual downstate adjustment.Appointment Status: This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class.Appointment to this position is pending Governor
