Assistant Director of Strategic Enrollment & Retention Initiatives (HEOa)

POSITION DETAILS

The Division of Enrollment Management leads and supports the offices of Advising & Transfer Support, Admissions, Financial Aid, and the HUB and develops key enrollment and retention initiatives college wide. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Enrollment & Persistence Initiatives, the Assistant Director of Strategic Enrollment & Retention Initiatives will primarily be responsible for processing transfer credits for incoming undergraduate degree students and support testing operations and other retention and persistence programs. The Assistant Director will ensure that official transfer credit is accurately recorded in the student information system in a timeframe that supports student success and will proctor, and support required testing in Accuplacer (ATB, ESL, etc.). In collaboration with Academic Affairs and Academic Advisement, they will configure and maintain transfer equivalency rules for courses, examinations, and professional credentials.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Implement business practices and workflows to improve the transfer credit process; evaluating prior Credit Learning, CUNY, and external transcript review.

  • Support the Director of Strategic Enrollment, in testing procedures with respect to exam proctoring and placement.

  • Work collaboratively with Academic Affairs and Academic Advisement to build and maintain databases and documents related to transfer credit evaluations and testing course placement records.

  • Work with queries in the student information systems to build transfer rules and verify/update student testing scores when necessary.

  • Obtain course descriptions, catalogs, and institutional information to support the review of unevaluated courses and maintains testing scores/course placement rubrics as needed.

  • Enters confidential student information into computerized systems to administer and track exams.

  • Maintains and updates the testing and transfer credit evaluation website and intranet.

  • Supports day-to-day management of enrollment and retention activities.

  • Acts as School Certifying Officer for Veterans to certify enrollment for veterans using the Enrollment Management system.

  • Generate relevant data reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience evaluating academic transcripts for the purpose of awarding transfer credit

  • Familiarity with Accuplacer testing for ESL, ATB, and Math advanced placement

  • Familiarity with transfer curriculum issues and testing practices

  • Knowledge of credit for prior learning assessment and CUNY proficiency indices a plus

  • Demonstrated experience using technology to increase operational efficiency

  • Proven knowledge of the enrollment cycle and related processes in higher education

  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft Oracle-based systems such as CUNYfirst

  • Strong written communication with extreme attention to detail

  • A high level of organization and ability to work efficiently and independently on multiple tasks, with a high degree of accuracy

  • Must be available to work evening hours and weekends as necessary

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments, in a team-oriented environment

Administers enrollment processes and related functions.

  • Collaborates with management team in the development of admission and enrollment goals, strategies, and initiatives; participates in planning enrollment events.

  • Analyzes and interprets quantitative and qualitative student enrollment data to prepare reports for management.

  • Recommends and implements improvements to existing technical systems and office operations.

  • Serves as resource reference to interpret and comply with University and College enrollment policies.

  • Prepares and reviews student communication materials.

  • May coordinate aspects of student entry from point of allocation to include orientation, advisement, and collection of admitted student documents.

  • May supervise office operations and/or department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

$68,004 - $75,465; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
