Position Summary

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

The Assistant Director, Prospect Development is responsible for a wide-range of data governance and leadership initiatives related to prospect development, including drafting guidelines for the wider University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) team. Collaborate with senior leadership officers, the Prospect Research (PR) and Prospect Management (PM) teams to strategize and complete special projects for the Vice President and Senior Vice President of Development, as well as the Office of The President. Strengthen working relationships between Prospect Development and UDAR by assisting the Development Team achieve their fundraising goals. Provide data analysis to support strategic decision making around high priority prospects and build strong portfolios via relationship mapping and other tools. Manage and coordinate complex projects involving a variety of Development staff members, including senior officers. Prepare and manage high-level presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and other deliverables. Partner with Prospect Development Leadership to manage and support operations for both the PR and PM teams. Provide research assistance, detailed relationship mapping, and help to build frontline fundraisers’ portfolios. Identify funding sources, and supervise projects related to prospect analysis and donor initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's DegreeRequired Experience:5+ years relevant experience in development, or an equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred Experience:5+ years experience in development, research, or relationship managementRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational and planning abilities with the ability to prioritize assignments and requests from multiple sources

Strong interpersonal skills, and a focus for customer service orientation

Sound judgment and decision-making abilities to produce and analyze data

Advanced computer skills required, including the ability to produce presentations, as well as fluency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $110,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
