Medical Director for Academic Hospitalist Section - (Assistant/Associate/Professor at CUMC)

The Department of Medicine, Division of General Medicine at the Columbia University Medical Center in New York City is looking for a new Medical Director and leader of our academic hospitalist group at the Milstein Hospital. Duties include leadership of and direction of the hospitalist group, mentoring of physicians, collaborative interactions with NewYork Presbyterian Hospital on quality improvement, patient safety and medical care, organization of clinical care and teaching of residents and medical students, maintenance of collaborative interactions with other Departments, research activities, provision of direct patient care with the assistance of physician assistants, and involvement with other academic activities.

Successful applicants must have prior leadership experience in comparable settings, excellent interpersonal and organization skills, and a vision for the future of hospitalist medicine. We are considering applicants at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor levels.

The Milstein Hospitalist Section has approximately 45 academic hospitalist physicians, includes an NIH-funded T32 fellowship program, and is an essential part of a Division with approximately $40 million/year in federal funding. Learn more at https://www.genmed.columbia.edu/hospital-medicine


Minimum Degree: M.D. or equivalent medical professional degree

Minimum Qualifications: Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine, and must be eligible to practice in the State of New York.

Preferred: Prior leadership experience, MPH or equivalent, Spanish language proficiency, research experience/program.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
