POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bilingual Job and External Partnerships Developer is responsible for identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with employers and community partners. Partnerships will offer opportunities for job training, internships and employment positions with a living wage. This position reports to the Program Manager of Job and External Partnerships Developer.

The goal of URI’s economic empowerment programming is to support clients in reaching their educational, vocational, and career goals to move towards economic independence. The Bilingual Job and External Partnership Developer will participate as a member of the Economic Empowerment team in the Justice Initiatives department. This team includes career readiness specialists, job placement and retention specialists, financial empowerment specialist, and a specialized youth training program. Through a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens we provide both individual and group support for URI clients.

Salary: $52,000 - $60,000

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and assist in the development and implementation of strengths-based employment readiness assessments and plans with individual members based on their interests, skills and goals to support them in developing a career pathway to living wage employment.

  • Maintain a caseload of clients and support them in finding employment and education opportunities in a client centered and trauma-informed manner.

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) language proficiency is required.

  • Identify and maintain new contacts with business leaders, industry representatives and job placement agencies to advocate for participant placement. This includes cold calls, emails, employer visits, and follow-up with employers.

  • Maintain long-term relationships with employers and ensure the job/internship matching process is the right fit between individuals and job placement partners.

  • Explain the benefits and employment support services provided to potential employers.

  • Research resources for new job leads, including industry related data; attend job fairs and outreach events.

  • Assist with facilitating training seminars on job search, resume writing, interviewing skills and other topics related to the overall program goal.

  • Visit job sites and meet with clients on-site, as scheduled.

  • Coordinate job placements with staff and the Manager of Externships and Job Development.

  • Organize and plan in person and virtual hiring events with employer partners & clients.

  • Using Salesforce , accurately track metrics within employer databases and associated data.

  • Establish and sustain relationships with placement agencies that possess resources and services aligned with meeting the needs of our clients.

  • Assist in the research and development of industry knowledge in key occupations to ensure effective matching of members to educational and employment opportunities.

  • Enter client meetings and data into the databases in a timely manner.

  • Attend coalitions, taskforces, working groups and committees focused on relevant employment issues as directed.

  • Ensure ongoing communication and support during internship and job placements , encourage job growth and promotion.

  • Meet weekly with Manager of External Partnerships and Job Development for supervision.

  • Preform other duties assigned by the Manager of External Partnerships and Job Development.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a Human Service field.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Commitment to the vision and mission of Urban Resource Institute.

  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to public interest and an understanding of trauma-informed services.

  • Minimum of one (1) year-of experience in staffing, job readiness, or sales.

  • Knowledge of educational and employment barriers and resources for low-income and survivors of violence in NYC.

  • Knowledge of NYC workforce landscape and resources.

  • Highly motivated, with proven capacity to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in high-paced entrepreneurial environment.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of domestic violence within and against disenfranchised communities; including individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, as well as the elderly and those who may need mental health support.

  • Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse team, maintaining a healthy work environment for staff that encourages professionalism, respect, equality, diversity and continuous improvement.

  • Strong writing and public speaking skills with an ability to manage and organize multiple projects in a busy, pressured working environment.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with people of diverse educational, cultural and professional backgrounds.

  • Must be a responsible individual with a reputable character, known to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and cope with stress and crises in a calm manner.

  • Willingness to travel to residential and community program spaces, and community partner sites.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Salesforce, and Apricot.
