UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC Business Continuity Planner in New York, New York

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Business Continuity Planner experienced in developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans for a hybrid position in Brooklyn, NY. Candidates must be able to work onsite at 335 Adams Street in a Hybrid role. Applicants must be eligible to work for any employer in the USA.

Position:

The Business Continuity Planner will be responsible for developing disaster recovery plans for multiple systems, some of which are integrated with others, as well as creating a comprehensive business continuity plan. The Planner will work closely with executives, management, and subject matter experts across NYCERS to develop, maintain, and implement business continuity and disaster recovery strategies. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, performing business impact analyses, planning and conducting mock-disaster exercises, and coordinating continuity efforts following disruption events. The Planner will also be tasked with testing and updating existing plans and strategies to ensure they remain effective and relevant.

    MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Develop disaster recovery plans for physical locations with critical assets, such as data centers.

  • Develop contingency plans to address organizational emergencies.

  • Test documented disaster recovery strategies and plans.

  • Analyze impact on, and risk to, essential business functions or information systems to identify acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements.

  • Assess risks to business operations.

  • Develop emergency management plans for recovery decision-making and communications, continuity of critical departmental processes, or temporary shutdown of non-critical departments to ensure continuity of operation and governance.

  • Review existing disaster recovery, crisis management, or business continuity plans.

  • Establish, maintain, or test call trees to ensure appropriate communication during a disaster.

  • Conduct or oversee contingency plan integration and operation.

  • Write reports to summarize testing activities, including descriptions of goals, planning, scheduling, execution, results, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.

  • Create business continuity and disaster recovery budgets.

  • Attend professional meetings, read literature, and participate in training or other educational offerings to keep abreast of new developments and technologies related to disaster recovery and business continuity.

    DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) (Preferred)

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (Preferred)

  • Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE) (Preferred)

  • Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans: Min 5+ years (Required)

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans across multiple industries

  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and continuity exercises.

  • BA or BS, in a relevant field such as Business Continuity Management, Disaster Recovery, Information Technology, or Risk Management.

    SCOPE OF SERVICES:

  • Provide Information Technology Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery consultant services to NYCERS for the completion of their ongoing business process improvement program.

  • Gather and analyze data in support of business cases and proposed projects to ensure the application satisfies documented requirements.

  • Develop and establish quality assurance standards and measures for the information technology services within the organization.

  • Determine if manual or automated testing is needed for an application and develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts to carry out the various aspects of testing.

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and users to verify and validate results.

  • Provide Test plans, Test cases, Test scripts, Test Execution results, and Test Summary reports.

  • Identify and document defects.

  • Track and report on defects.

  • Conduct Functional, System, Regression, UAT, and Performance testing.
