JOB PURPOSE

Provide direct intake and admissions services for individuals seeking treatment who have substance use disorders for the residential and outpatient treatment programs of the Center for Recovery and Wellness. Provide practical guidance and support to the Intake Team and interns. Assist the Director and Clinical Directors in day-to-day admissions operations.

SCOPE OF INFLUENCE

  • Provide onsite and offsite intake and admissions services to adults and adolescents with substance use disorders, and their families and significant others who may be impacted.

  • Partner with referral sources and expand referral base.

  • Partner with multi-disciplinary team in assessing level of care, planning admission schedule, and communicating case formulation and clinical recommendations.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Required Knowledge

  • LCSW, LMHC, or LMSW or CASAC-2

  • One year of clinical intake and admissions experience minimum

  • Two years of experience with substance use disorders strongly preferred

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills

  • Computer skills (Internet, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, EMRs, HRA STARS)

  • Knowledge of OASAS and Medicaid regulations

  • Knowledge of ICD-10/DSM diagnostic criteria, primarily related to substance use disorders

  • Highly organized with strong attention to details and an eye for developing efficient, internal systems and workflow

  • Ability to multitask and handle challenging situations in a professional and courteous manner

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information

  • Must be compassionate, organized, self-motivated, a team player

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Clinical: 45%

  • Complete intake and admissions assessments for residential outpatient programs using a trauma informed lens onsite, offsite, or via telehealth) as needed

  • Phone screen and assess potential clients

  • Provide outpatient program coverage as required to meet staffing needs and fiduciary targets:

  • Outpatient counseling duties to include but not limited to:

  • Facilitation of individual and group level interventions during FT clinician vacation or leave

  • Maintenance of primary counseling caseload commensurate with outpatient program needs and intake scheduling demands

  • OASAS compliance reporting as requested

  • Preparation of court reports and federal probation/ pretrial documentation as requested

  • Collect urine, saliva and breathalyzer specimens for toxicology analysis.

    Administrative: 45%

  • Complete quality admissions assessments in accordance with regulatory bodies (OASAS, CARF, and Medicaid)

  • Support the training of new admissions staff

  • Track enrollments using a shared excel system

  • Maintain waiting list as required by regulation

  • Maintain accurate and organized records in the EMR

  • Participate in quality assurance reviews

  • Submit timely documentation for billing purposes

  • Coordinate initial referrals and scheduling of medical, mental health with onsite service providers.

  • Ensure that clients’ medical examinations and psychiatric referrals and evaluations are scheduled.

  • Contact referral source upon admission of new clients in a timely manner and provide reports and oral clinical updates.

  • Provide translators when necessary

  • Register clients in drug testing data base

  • Ensure potential admissions are screened and referred to the appropriate level of care.

  • Coordinate financial screens and communicate with billing department during admission procedures.

  • Ensure phones are answered professionally, and responses regarding inquiries are timely.

  • Outreach to referral sources to expand network.

  • Provide supervision and/or training to interns as appropriate

    Other: 10%

  • Attend multidisciplinary clinical and administrative team meetings, individual supervision, and professional development in-service trainings

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
