City of New York Coordinator of Special Projects, Office of Public Safety in New York, New York

Job Description

The Office of Public Safety is seeking a proactive and skilled Coordinator of Special Projects to join our team. The ideal candidate will be tasked with overseeing and managing a range of specialized projects focused on enhancing public safety initiatives. The coordinator must possess strong proficiency in proposal writing using PowerPoint and spreadsheet management using Excel, alongside exceptional notetaking, and report-writing skills. Note: Graphic design a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Strategize, execute, and supervise special projects pertaining to public safety initiatives. Coordinate effectively with relevant stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved within specified timelines.

  2. Proposal Writing: Develop comprehensive and persuasive proposals utilizing PowerPoint to secure support for public safety projects. Collaborate closely with team members to gather pertinent information and data for proposal development.

  3. Spreadsheet Management: Utilize Excel to construct and maintain spreadsheets for special project tracking, and data analysis. Ensure accuracy and integrity of data to facilitate informed decision making.

  4. Note-taking: Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to public safety initiatives. Take detailed and precise notes to capture critical discussions, action items and decisions.

  5. Report Writing: Generate clear, concise, and insightful reports outlining project progress, outcomes, and recommendations. Effectively communicate findings to stakeholders through written reports and presentations.

  6. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and law enforcement partners. Foster collaboration and align project goals closely with stakeholders.

  7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with special projects and devise proactive mitigation strategies to address them. Monitor special project activities to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?

  2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?

  3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?

  4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?
