City of New York Database Administrator/Programmer in New York, New York

Job Description

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced Database Administrator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installing and configure databases with license compliance in coordination with vendors and agency partners.

Performing upgrades of the database and software to new release levels

Managing the database's storage structures

Managing users and security

Managing schema objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and procedures using PL/SQL and SSMS

Write and optimize SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data.

Ensure code efficiency, maintainability, and security.

Making database backups and performing recovery when necessary

Proactively monitoring the database's health and taking preventive or corrective action as required

Responsible for database performance tuning

Responsible for database troubleshooting

Coordinating with appropriate teams to ensure operational effectiveness of databases and apply database, OS, and security patches.

Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college or high school diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience

Must have at least three years’ experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) on 10g, 11g, 12c, or 19c with strong knowledge of Oracle Data Guard or RMAN backup.

Experience with System administration or Microsoft SQL database installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Experience with Azure or/and AWS is a plus.

Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent technical “documentation” writing skills.

Candidate should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, a sense of responsibility, and an ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with vendors.

Strong project management skills in a team-oriented environment

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position; or,

  2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
