HNTB Deputy Project Manager / Field Coordinator in New York, New York

This opportunity entails the following:

DPM Tasks and Responsibilities

∙ Develop/Submit daily and weekly inspection schedules

∙ Prepare final weekly schedule with actual bridges inspected and send to Region.

∙ Prepare yearly inspection schedule and forecast number of teams needed each month.

∙ Coordinate the inspection with NYSDOT

∙ Coordinate equipment and WZTC with vendors

∙ Coordinate equipment and railroad flagging needs with LIRR

∙ Review team daily reports, track team progress and equipment use

∙ Send inventory update documents to the teams.

∙ Review equipment and WZTC invoices for accuracy

∙ Pick-up and drop-off BIN folders to/from Region 10 office.

∙ Process BIN folders for return to Region 10.

∙ Coordinate inspections over navigable waterways with the USCG.

∙ Take and prepare minutes of all meetings.

∙ Prepare Hours-Usage Report every month

∙ Develop/Submit Monthly Bridge Progress Report

∙ Schedule bridges in BDIS.

∙ Identify bridges with confined spaces 2 weeks before scheduled.

∙ Identify “complex bridges” and notify Region at least 2 weeks before scheduled.

∙ Provide Load Rating Engineers with level 2 load rating submission lists.

∙ Record Level 2 load rating submissions and coordinate with Load Rating Engineers.

∙ Get plans, previous load rating data and XML files needed for load rating engineers.

Must be proficient in Word, Excel and oral and written communication.

Must have driver’s license.

What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

  • Assist in the development of project specifications.

  • Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.

  • Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members.

  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.

  • Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.

  • Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience, or

  • PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Optimizing work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.

  • Exhibiting experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation and/or AutoCad.

  • Exhibiting a thorough understanding of the application related to engineering, geometric and algebraic principles.

  • Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.

What We Prefer:

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline)

The approximate pay range for New York is $79,356.08 - $155,151.31. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
