Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Director, Acute Care Nursing – Inpatient Oncology
We’re hiring a Director, Acute Care Nursing – Inpatient Oncology to lead, inspire, and support our dedicated inpatient oncology nursing team. Reporting to the VP, Inpatient Nursing, this role offers the opportunity to drive MSK’s mission to end cancer for life, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care that embodies our values of respect, dignity, and warmth. In this role, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations for 9 acute care oncology units and Inpatient Chemotherapy Services, supporting 700 + nursing staff. You’ll work collaboratively with nursing leadership, manage resource allocation, and shape nursing practices that enhance patient outcomes and elevate the Nursing profession .
Role Overview:
Participate in nursing departmental strategic planning to ensure alignment with MSK’s vision, mission, values (VMV), and organizational goals.
Mentor nurses in translating new knowledge into practice, fostering continuous learning, innovation, and scientific inquiry.
Motivate and support career progression aligned with the nursing professional practice model and MSK’s commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
Foster evidence-based practice by integrating current research findings into clinical care delivery.
Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of nursing quality initiatives to enhance processes supporting patient care.
Participate in ongoing clinical technology assessments to maintain a state-of-the-art practice environment.
Ensure adequate staffing resources and develop flexible staffing methodologies to support patient safety, high-quality outcomes, and operational efficiency.
Prepare, monitor, and justify all budget activity and variances, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
Provide clinical input into major construction and modernization programs for in patient facilities and services.
Key Qualifications:
10+ years of nursing experience with a proven track record of both acute care and inpatient oncology leadership i n an academic medical center or academic teaching hospital
Master’s prepared with a NYS RN license and ANCC specialty certification in oncology or a related area.

Operations Management: Strong knowledge of professional nursing standards , staffing, and regulatory requirements ; including due diligence in leadership practices - validation and accountability.
Strategic Vision and Execution: demonstrated business acumen and c apable of setting and driving priorities.

Agility and Adaptability: Flexible and resilient in leading teams through change and new care delivery models.
