Citigroup Director- Controllers Budget Manager - C15 - NEW YORK in New York, New York

The Senior Business Unit Group Manager is a senior-level position responsible for the overall administrative activities of a business. These tasks may include managing external audits, business continuity activities or addressing regulatory issues. The Business Unit Group Manager may coordinate and manage activities such as the tracking of business financials, employee headcount and other administrative needs and ad hoc projects as necessary.

Reporting to the Controller Business Execution Lead, the Controllers Budget Lead is a senior strategic partner to the Citibank Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. The role will help set the strategic direction for Controllers and will be an integral part of articulating and executing Controllership strategy both within our organization and cross functionally within the finance ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Create methodologies, procedures and governance of the Productivity Area to ensure expense targets are met by each business/function

  • Evaluate and approve investment/expenditure requests and capital expenses for all Controllership disciplines

  • Ensure approved out-of-budget expenditure requests are appropriately handled

  • Engage in cost management activities, such as validating spending and cost saving initiatives, monitoring savings initiatives and expenses, as well as monitoring consistency between financial information, productivity information and HR reports

  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs, propose initiatives and lead creation of direct expense plans in partnership with internal functions and teams

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

  • Provide leadership and promote business ties with internal and external senior leaders/clients across key businesses, regions and support functions

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience

  • Extensive experience in managing highly visible, complex initiatives and/or consulting experience

  • Capable of diving into details, while bringing a strategic lens and big picture perspective

  • Deep expertise in workforce management, including planning, reporting and location strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to devise and manage budgets and the associated monitoring process

  • Demonstrated skills in building and developing teams

  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skillset

  • Experience with and confidence in delivering presentations to senior management

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a highly dynamic environment

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; must be articulate and provide direction with judgement and authority to enable effective validation with senior stakeholders

  • Management experience in a financial services role

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and technology

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master's degree preferred

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
