KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of MSNBC Finance will be responsible for the day to day finance operations of the network, with a focus on leading financial reporting and the consolidation process.  The Director will work closely with the VP of Finance for MSNBC and the CFO of NBC News, MSNBC, and CNBC on many key initiatives, and key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead all financial reporting and consolidation for MSNBC and provide periodic updates to News Group FP&A, MSNBC leadership, and the editorial show teams.  Expected to build high quality presentations and drive enhancements to monthly reporting.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the network’s financial operations to drive strategic initiatives, cost savings and other priorities.

  • Act as the finance lead for the MSNBC Non-TV initiatives to drive growth and diversify revenue (Digital Publishing, Streaming, Audio, and our Events business) with a focus on building new processes, developing specialized reporting, and providing leadership with data-supported insights.

  • Oversee all monthly closes and forecasting/planning processes, and be the key point of contact for News Group FP&A and Controllership.

  • Facilitate partnership with HR, Controllership, SAP team, and other internal stakeholders and ensure that business needs are fulfilled and deadlines are met.

  • Manage the day to day priorities for a senior analyst.  Expected to be a leader who ensures that the editorial operations are supported, while also coaching core finance and business skills to the rest of the team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Finance or Accounting.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

  • FP&A experience - comfortable building presentations and other reporting

  • Analytical mindset, curiosity, and initiative; expertise in leveraging and analyzing financial data to drive strategic decision making

  • Ability to work across multiple functions and teams in a collaborative environment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to present to Senior Executives

  • Proven leadership skills and prior experience managing a team
