NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Director of Special Projects in New York, New York

Position Summary

Reporting to, and working in close collaboration with the VP for Institutional Advancement/Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations, the Director of Special Projects works with colleagues across the department, Law School, and broader University to direct a broad range of projects and initiatives. This includes projects with a special focus on inter-departmental operations, board of trustee engagement and committees, management of the VP/Associate Dean’s workflow and calendar, ad-hoc projects, and internal and external events that support the department in achieving its strategic goals. Where appropriate, the Director of Special Projects acts as a representative of the VP/Associate Dean in engagement with key external stakeholders and leadership across the Law School. The director is also responsible for taking a wide-angle look at tasks across the team and “connecting the dots” between departments, providing updates to the VP/Associate Dean as projects progress or run into obstacles.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's DegreeRequired Experience:5+ years Must have a minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility in academic administration, nonprofit, government or comparable setting and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in fundraising, interacting with important donors, and writing or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working across a diverse range of stakeholders in an effective and diplomatic manner is also required.Preferred Experience:5+ years Experience in a fast-paced academic or nonprofit academic environment, especially in development or public relations.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Demonstrated organizational, writing, and event management skills. Proven ability to problem solve, adapt quickly, and deal with highly charged situations and individuals in a sensitive and diplomatic manner. Ability to exercise sound judgment and excellent discretion; able to maintain confidentiality. Experience leading diverse, inter-departmental initiatives and managing and prioritizing complex projects. Ability to identify key action points and assignments from meetings, communications, strategic priorities, and other sources. Experience implementing and interpreting policies and procedures. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong research, writing and presentation skills and the ability to communicate sensitive information diplomatically and firmly both verbally and in writing to individuals at all levels. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a multi-constituency environment. Proactive approach to anticipating and alleviating roadblocks. This role requires occasional evening and weekend work, including working events.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $110,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
