Director, Principal Gifts Management

Full-Time

Overview:

The Director, Principal Gifts Management is an integral member of a dynamic fundraising team for the nation’s leading orthopedics and rheumatology academic medical center. Working closely with the Vice President of Development, the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, as well as other senior leaders in the Development Department, the Director will provide critical support for all aspects of work related to gifts of $1 million or more. This includes supporting engagement with the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer’s portfolio of donors and prospective supporters; helping drive prospect strategies, stewardship initiatives, and outreach related to principal-level gifts; partnering on Board-level fundraising strategy; and overseeing projections and data management related to the principal gift program at HSS.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary point-person for the principal gift program at HSS, coordinating with the Executive Director, Fundraising Strategy, to develop strategies for prospect engagement.

  • Facilitate and administer regular meetings to drive fundraising activity at the $1M+ level.

  • Partner directly with the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer to support her key relationships with HSS Board members and high-level donors to meet fundraising objectives.

  • Help with targeted cultivation for top prospects and donor renewals.

  • Develop, direct, and execute on stewardship plans for $1M+ donors, particularly those associated with the SVP and CDO.

  • Coordinate high-level stewardship timelines and deliverables – including impact reports, short videos, booklets, and specialized gifts – for principal-level gifts across the Department, collaborating internally and externally as appropriate.

  • Serve as a member of the Fundraising Strategy Team, working on prospecting projects, campaigns, and initiatives around key fundraising priorities as they intersect with principal gift fundraising.

  • Create presentations, help with reports and data on fundraising progress, assemble materials, prepare talking points, and organize full preparation for key internal and external meetings.

  • Provide direct administrative support to the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer and the Vice President, Development as necessary to align fundraising strategy with tactical execution.

  • Synthesize and apply information provided by the HSS Research team–in the form of strategy sheets, focusing tools, and briefings–to drive principal gift activity and inform strategies for prospect engagement and solicitation.

  • Perform additional related duties as requested.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Minimum five years of professional work experience is required. Experience in fundraising and/or healthcare and hospitals is highly desired.

Pay Range - Minimum

USD $140,000.00/Yr.
