How you'll make an impact:

The Director Release Management, Automotive Technology & Engineering will be responsible to drive cloud and microservice qualification and release for the SiriusXM Automotive organization. You will collaborate closely with the backend infrastructure management teams as well as client engineering teams to understand the priority and requirements for your assigned features. In your role, you will work with both internal and external teams to ensure the functionality developed meets the product and technical requirements. The Director Release Management, Automotive Technology & Engineering will also lead features through the development lifecycle from planning and release and post-production, including with multi-department teams to ensure successful on-time launch.

What you'll do:

  • Direct, guide and motivate others towards successful launch of assigned projects
  • Ensure team members are aware of integrated project timelines and provide timely updates that may have cross-functional impact
  • Hands-on management of features throughout their lifecycle, from planning to release, including coordination with multi-department teams, and post-launch production incidents
  • Serve as supervisor for team of engineers dedicated to performing technical coordination and execution tasks required for the Automotive Agile Release Train
  • Collaborate closely with solution architect counterparts on implementation design and documentation
  • Support backwards and cross-compatibility with various backend stacks
  • Responsible for operating Agile Release Train for Automotive Services Platform Releases to OEM market
  • Set and manage Release Scope for all planned releases and drive team to achieve target scope
  • Set the Automotive Release Calendar, flexibly adjusting for business and market needs while maintaining quality for our customers
  • Serve as primary decision-making interface with PSO Team and other related Production teams
  • Provide production issue leadership and support as requested by PSO Team, including providing Hot Fix direction as needed
  • Lead Deployment Management of services to all prod and non-prod environments, working with DevOps and related disciplines
  • Establish testing requirements with SI QE teams for all releases, deployments, and hot fixes
  • Ensure quality of releases by verifying all validation activities have been completed satisfactorily
  • Actively manage and prioritize defect management and resolution related to release train
  • Actively coordinate component availability from various teams and ensure proper integration activities to feed release train
  • Prioritize component team backlogs as necessary to ensure Automotive Team needs are met
  • Personally oversee major release events (DNS Swaps, major hot fixes, etc.) and associated go/nogo events
  • Head up process transformations for release train to use latest and best techniques available and ensure team is properly trained to apply such techniques.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in systems engineering, software architecture, backend development, or equivalent
  • 2+ years People Management experience
  • 5 years of experience working on software projects
  • 3 years of Automotive Experience, and experience with Embedded Products a major plus
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a SAFe/Agile environment and demonstrable familiarity with Lean Engineering.
  • Experience in a supervisory role in an area of technical work product and delivery required.
  • General knowledge of CICD practices
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced and innovative environment where flexibility, resourcefulness, resiliency, and communication skills are key
  • Previous experience driving development of software projects
  • Experience working with Agile development teams
  • Ability to drive technical requirement definition and solution design sessions, working closely with partners across the entire organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects
  • Time management skills is a must, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong blend of project management and technical aptitude; PMP or similar certification a plus
  • Broad-based understanding of the automotive industry, new technologies, and industry trends
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using JIRA
  • Knowledge of AWS Architecture and component principles
  • Experience in DevOps and/or working with DevOps organizations
  • Experience using Visio and Lucidchart
  • Must have legal right to work in U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $153,000 to $268,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
